Foundation History

The Greater Northern Virginia Spartans Foundation, Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in May 2021.  In 2020, a group of 37 alumni members from the Greater Northern Virginia Norfolk State Alumni Association Chapter (GRNOVA NSUAA) financially supported and chartered the foundation into its existence.   The chapter alumni thought it was important to support the educational endeavors of students who attend or plan to attend Norfolk State University (NSU).  NSU is one of several historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the United States of America and was founded in 1935 in Norfolk, Virginia and is proud of its legacy as an institution of higher learning.  The foundation also supports the local and community programs in Northern Virginia.

Mission Statement

The Greater Northern Virginia (GRNOVA) Spartans Foundation was established in May 2021 to provide educational  scholarships opportunities for students to attend Norfolk State University with a high school grade point average of 2.5 and above.  Our goal is to help them obtain an education which will give them the knowledge and skills necessary for improving their lives and their respective communities.
